Video: Tennessee Football Turned Its Weight Room Into A Club For A Late Night Lifting Session

first_imgJosh Dobbs working out.Vimeo/Tennessee FootballAt first, we bet some Tennessee football players weren’t into the idea of a late night lift session, but the Volunteers found a way to make the workout a bit more palatable: they turned the weight room into a night club. Tennessee put out a video of “Night Lift” on Vimeo, and while the workout looks pretty intense, there is also a light show, a fire machine, and a full DJ booth set up. We must say, this is pretty cool.During the season, we’ll have to see if Tennessee takes some inspiration from Rutgers and sets up its own version of Club Tub. This definitely looks like a party that Butch Jones and his staff can approve of, and we’re sure it won’t hurt the recruiting efforts either.last_img read more

Two College Football Powers Are ‘Tied’ In Recruitment For 2020 4-Star CB Lejond Cavazos

We’re still almost two full years away from his National Signing Day, but he already has some serious offers heading into his junior season.Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and USC are among the many big offers he already has. Two schools currently stand out, however. The IMG Academy standout has taken trips to both Georgia and Ohio State. While there is plenty of time for things to change, as of now it seems like the recruitment will come down to those two schools.DawgNation‘s Jeff Sentell spoke to Cavazos after his trip to Athens. From his write-up:“It definitely complicated it a lot,” Cavazos said. “Coming off that Ohio State visit, I was like ‘This is the school’ and this and that and then going to Georgia hearing like kind of the same stuff makes it really a hard decision. They are both really good schools so I don’t know what I am going to do now leading up to a commitment.“I thought I was going to commit like in a couple of weeks before I go back to school so it really just made it a lot harder on me.”After the two visits, Cavazos says that the two teams are tied in his mind.“They are both definitely tied right now,” Cavazos said. “Everything that I heard from one school I also heard from the other school. They both said the same things and made the same points.”Cavazos expects to take additional trips this fall for big games. He could commit before that, and it sounds like he wants to get the decision out of the way long before his senior season in 2019.As a 2020 recruit, the rankings are still very early. 247Sports does not have a composite ranking for him, but the site’s internal rankings have him as a three-star player, and the No. 38 player in Florida. Rivals is more bullish on him early, giving him four-stars. Give his offers, it would be shocking if he didn’t wind up as one of the top defensive backs in the country.[DawgNation]last_img read more

Ohio State Insider Believes 3 Punishments Are On The Table For Urban Meyer

first_imgA closeup of Urban Meyer during an Ohio State football game.GLENDALE, AZ – JANUARY 01: Head coach Urban Meyer of the Ohio State Buckeyes on the sidelines during the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at University of Phoenix Stadium on January 1, 2016 in Glendale, Arizona. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)Urban Meyer remains on paid administrative leave as Ohio State wraps up its investigation into how Meyer handled assault allegations against one of his former assistant coaches. The investigative committee is set to announce its findings later this week. What will happen to Urban Meyer? It depends who you ask.Ohio State insider Jeff Snook believes there are three punishments on the table for Meyer. None of them suggest Meyer won’t be with the team for the 2018 season.Snook believes there will be a suspension, or perhaps a “time served” suspension. Here’s what Snook had to say on the topic:“When the final determination is announced by university president Michael Drake, I believe he will do one of three things: Issue a one-game suspension, a two-game suspension or an immediate reinstatement with ‘time served.’The latter would result from Meyer’s nearly three-week sentence in purgatory, while the investigation was conducted.A possible suspension wouldn’t have anything to do with covering up domestic violence, I am told, but rather a result from some soap-opera type findings relating to his staff members that occurred at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center in recent years.”A two-game suspension means Meyer would return to the team for its contest against TCU. Ohio State is expected to announce a decision on Urban Meyer’s future on Wednesday morning. The Buckeyes open the 2018 season against Oregon State.last_img read more

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)Alabama has not lost a game all season and they are not projected to do so. However, in the event that the Crimson Tide do fall before the College Football Playoff, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has a prediction for what happens next.In an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up!, Finebaum speculated that a loss at this point would not prevent Alabama from getting in.“If Alabama loses a game, this week vs. Mississippi State, in two weeks to Auburn or the SEC Championship Game vs. Georgia, I think they’re still getting in,” Finebaum said.Finebaum explained that the voting committee’s decision to only drop two-loss LSU to No. 7 after their 29-0 home loss to Alabama indicates that the Crimson Tide “has a mulligan.”This should make everyone extremely happy. The selection committee is telling us Alabama will still reach the CFB Playoff with a loss: https://t.co/6ZYJnwSkzC pic.twitter.com/SVxfBTrfwo— Brad Crawford (@BCrawford247) November 7, 2018The Crimson Tide are overwhelming favorites in many of their remaining games. They are 24-point favorites this weekend against Mississippi State.Alabama is slated to face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. The game will be a rematch of last year’s thrilling National Championship Game.Additionally, betting lines are already out for Alabama in the College Football Playoff. They are favored by at least a touchdown against Clemson, by 14 points against Michigan, and by 20 points against Michigan.last_img read more

Major Update On Clemson Player Suspended For CFP

first_img According to Matt Connolly of The State, Zach Giella is no longer a member of Clemson’s football team.Giella isn’t on Clemson’s online roster, but Galloway remains on it. The sophomore tight end still has time to enjoy his collegiate career.Zach Giella’s career at Clemson is officially over. The former Tigers offensive lineman, who was one of three players suspended for PEDs prior to the 2018 Cotton Bowl, is no longer listed on Clemson’s roster, and a school official confirmed Saturday afternoon that Giella is no longer a member of Clemson’s team.According to the report, the team is still awaiting word on whether Galloway could be available for bowl season 2019.Clemson has more than enough firepower to overcome these two losses for next season, especially with Trevor Lawrence leading the way. However, it must be heartbreaking for Dabo Swinney and his teammates to watch Giella’s career at Clemson end this way.[The State] Clemson Tigers huddle before the national championship.SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA – JANUARY 07: Head coach Dabo Swinney of the Clemson Tigers talks with his team prior to the College Football Playoff National Championship against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Levi’s Stadium on January 07, 2019 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images)Clemson put together a performance for the ages in last season’s College Football Playoff, dominating Notre Dame and Alabama en route to the national title. Unfortunately, the program’s success on the gridiron was somewhat marred by multiple failed drug tests ahead of the Playoff.Prior to the 2018 Cotton Bowl, the Tigers found out that three players would miss the game due to suspension. All three suspensions were related to the NCAA’s drug policy.Zach Giella, Braden Galloway and Dexter Lawrence tested positive for ostarine. The punishment from the NCAA doesn’t affect Lawrence for next season because he entered the NFL Draft. While the suspension certainly hurts Galloway and Giella, it affects the latter more since he was entering his senior season. Unfortunately, the experienced offensive lineman won’t be with the Tigers anymore.last_img read more

He claimed before 2014, the country was gripped by anxiety and fear, and the BJP-led government laid the foundation of a strong India after it came to power. The previous governments were busy in ensuring their survival for five years and damaged the country by making populist announcements aimed at winning elections, Shah alleged.Singh, who shared the dias with Shah, said, BJP workers will travel across the country in 300 vehicles and public views will be sought by placing 7,500 boxes in 4,000 Assembly constituencies.advertisementSingh, who is also the head of the party’s Sankalp Patra’ committee, said: The party will reach out to 10 crore people through seven ways including telephone, social media and other mediums to seek their suggestions on 12 topics, Singh said. Kusal Perera (12*), O Fernando (28*), Olivier (1/3). Full ScorecardDebutant spinner Lasith Embuldeniya took five wickets as Sri Lanka produced a strong fightback with the ball on day three of the first Test, but hosts South Africa remained on course for victory at the close at Kingsmead on Friday.Set a target of 304 to win, Sri Lanka were 83 for three when bad light brought a premature end to proceedings, with Oshada Fernando (28 not out) and Kusal Perera (12 not out) to resume the victory hunt on the fourth morning. The impressive Embuldeniya had earlier claimed 5-66 and sparked a South Africa collapse as the hosts were bowled out for 259 in their second innings, leaving Sri Lanka to chase what seems an unlikely victory. The tourists have not posted over 300 in any of their last 12 Test innings, while the record fourth innings total to win a game in Durban is 336 by Australia in 1950.Openers Dimuth Karunaratne (20) and Lahiru Thirimanne (21) had put on 42 for the first wicket of Sri Lanka’s chase, before the latter was caught by Faf du Plessis at second slip off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada.Visiting captain Karunaratne was out soon afterwards, trapped leg before wicket by Vernon Philander as the tourists wobbled. They were three down two overs later when Kusal Mendis (0), batting with an injured finger, could only guide a Duanne Olivier delivery to wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.Sri Lanka batted another anxious nine overs before the cloud cover that had threatened for much of the day forced the players from the field as the umpires deemed the light too gloomy to continue.advertisementThe visitors had skittled out South Africa’s lower order 40 minutes before tea, taking the final five wickets for the addition of only eight runs. The home side were reasonably comfortable on 251 for five, but lost Philander (18) when he was bowled by a ball that kept low from the Embuldeniya.Home captain Du Plessis (90) had looked largely in control, but was out when he left a straight ball from Vishwa Fernando (4-71) that trapped him leg before wicket, with the seamer going on to collect two more wickets for a total of eight in the match. It was a swift end to South Africa’s second innings, but a sign of the variable bounce and generous turn on offer to the bowlers that will make Sri Lanka’s chase that much harder. The second and final Test of the series will be played in Port Elizabeth from Feb. 21-25.Also Read | South Africa vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test Day 3 in Durban: As it happenedFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
